Description

The second part of the celebrated film trilogy by Mark Donskoy based upon Maxim Gorky’s autobiographical works (Part One -“Childhood of Maxim Gorky”, Part Three - “My Universities”).
  Alyosha Peshkov leaves the house of his grandfather and goes “into the world”, to earn his living. He works as a “boy” for his draughtsman uncle, as a dishwasher on one of the Volga ships, as a pupil at an icon-workshop. A kind, devoid of cruelty boy, he cannot accept the injustice reigning around him, bravely fights for the truth and… loses his job and shelter again.

“By public popularity, Gorky was second only to Lev Tolstoy. After Tolstoy’s and Aksakov’s books about their landowner-aristocratic childhood, Gorky’s works “Childhood” and “My Apprenticeship” revealed the world of childhood of the common people – no less precious and poetic…”
